Did you know that the Cleveland Public Library (CPL) is home to the largest chess publication library in the world? The Claude F. Bloodgood chess collection includes any type of chess-related document, manuscript, photograph, object, or archive related to chess.
The collection, on the third floor of the Main Building in the Special Collections department of the CPL, contains chess sets from around the world. They are in various shapes and sizes, made from many different materials like wood, glass and metal and span the centuries. One of my favorites is the salt and pepper shaker chess set.
