Every year the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad transforms itself into the Polar Express. This week we took the train for a trip to the North Pole to visit Santa. The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad runs all throughout the year and offers many different trips through the Cuyahoga National Park, such Ales on the Rails and the Grape Escape.
The Polar Express is a very kid friendly experience. You can catch the train at either the Rockside or Akron stations. (We boarded in Rockside). Once we were on board volunteer elves helped make the evening festive by reading the story of the Polar Express, leading sing-a-longs and serving hot chocolate and cookies.
When we reached the North Pole saw a ton of lights outside the window in Christmas town, elves dancing around and yes, Santa was riding by in his sleigh. He boarded our train and talked with all the boys and girls (and adults) and even posed for some pictures.
This was the first time experiencing the Polar Express and highly recommend it. Such a wonderful experience! Tickets sell out soon after they go on sale, so stay tuned next year.
