Energy in Repose is the large bronze statue that sits outside the employee entrance of the Cleveland Federal Reserve on Superior Ave. in downtown Cleveland. He is a burly man wearing a tunic, holding a hammer and sitting on a rock. His well-defined physique, suggests he is a laborer. The title of the statue suggests that he represents a man whose strength is guided by intelligence.
Energy in Repose is another Henry Hering statue here in Cleveland. We have featured Security and Integrity here in the past; they too are outside the Cleveland Federal Reserve. This statue is considered one of his more traditional pieces though. The statue is scaled about four times life size and it weighs three tons! The statue was dedicated in 1923, the year the Cleveland Fed opened.
