This past weekend I was fortunate enough to see the musical Come From Away in the Connor Palace at Playhouse Square. It was amazing; the best of the season. If you have an opportunity to see this show – go!
Come From Away tells the story of the residents of Gander, Newfoundland and the 38 planes that were forced to land there on 9/11. The town population more than doubles when the “plane people” from around the world arrive. They would need food, a place to stay and help with dealing with the events of that day. The good folks of Gander and the surrounding towns stepped up and took care of them.
Cleveland has the second largest theater district in the United States, only New York is bigger! Playhouse Square brings in 1.2 million visitors a year. Cleveland is home to the largest number of season ticket holders for the Broadway series shows, more than any other city in the U.S. – 46,000 season ticket holders!
Come From Away was at the Connor Palace. Although, I love all these grand theaters, I have to admit the Palace is my favorite!
