Once again in August the Connor Palace Theater at Playhouse Square will host Cinema at the Square. This is where they pay homage to the glory days of the movie palace and will show 13 films, spanning every generation from August 2 – 19. Tickets are just $5.00. Most shows begin with a live organ performance and a cartoon before the featured presentation. This year’s features include Goldfinger, Casablanca, National Lampoon’s Vacation and Breakfast at Tiffany’s to name a few.
The theaters in Playhouse Square have a long history with movies. The Stillman was the first in Cleveland to show, Gone with the Wind. The Palace was the first theater in Cleveland to have the Cinerama technology in 1956, showing This is Cinerama for 32 weeks.
