Third in our churches of Cleveland series is St. Theodosius Orthodox Church in the Tremont neighborhood. The cathedral was constructed between 1911-1912 and built in the Neo-Byzantine style. St. Theodosius is considered one of the finest examples of Russian church architecture in the United States. The parish was organized by immigrant Russians living in Tremont. It was the first Orthodox Christian church in Cleveland.
The cathedral can be seen in the movie The Deer Hunter staring Robert De Niro, Christopher Walken, and Meryl Streep. The cathedral is located at 733 Starkweather Avenue. Today the building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
